Beyond performing and teaching, composition has provided Christopher with a fulfilling creative outlet. Recent projects include his Biosphere Suite: a programmatic suite of music for the Sonuskapos Jazz Orchestra, drawing inspiration from wildlife and the natural world, to be premiered this year. Christopher's compositions can be heard on his debut album Where We Have Been.
While completing his Bachelor of Music at Humber College, Christopher had the opportunity to learn from many of Canada’s premier jazz musicians, including Pat LaBarbera, Mark Promane and Denny Christianson. Outside of his formal education, Christopher has studied the classical tradition extensively, with Nina Martini-Dorey — freelance flute player and former member of the Winnipeg Symphony — and Richard Thomson — freelance clarinet player and faculty at the University of Toronto.
